It's a good product Oct 03, 2009

The stainless steel is high quality steel. I use rice cooker a lot - not just for rice. The reason I didn't give it a 5 stars is that the handle on the steamer tray was off the hock after second use and I couldn't put it back on. Also I don't know why Amazon still didn't correct it - it's a 8-CUP, not 18-cup pot. So it is pretty pricey if you consider that. But I decided to keep it for the quality material (at least looks like) they used .

This stainless steel pot brown rice cooker is OK. Jul 04, 2010
By Rob L. It's hard to find a rice cooker with stainless steel pot, so I gave this a try since it had good reviews. The having stainless steel pot is probably the best thing I could say about it. I found that it cooks brown rice almost twice as long as my old Japanese brand non-stick rice cooker. I was quite disappointed also because it's not one of those leave it and go after you press "cook rice", and where I could leave it there on "warm" for a couple of days without the rice burning at the bottom or hardening. That's not the case with this rice cooker. But I learned to adapt to this cooker. I cook it at least 2 hours before my meal. I cannot leave the cooked rice on warm all day, otherwise it will really stick to the bottom. I turn it off completely and I have to mix the rice after a few minutes to get the slightly toasted bottom to blend with the softer rice in the middle, then it evens out more in texture. I don't need to grease the pot before cooking, as they adviced, and it doesn't really stick as long as I mix it when i turn the cooker off. I refrigerate the rest of the cooled rice and, when needed, I just warm the rice either in the microwave or heat it in a pan, and sometimes saute it with I add a little oil, garlic and salt/seasoning. Despite the extra time and work, I have to consider it's a healthier way to cook rice than in a non-stick aluminum pot. I have not tried cooking other grains/pasta in it, so I cannot comment in those features.

After 1 year of daily use as rice cooker and vegetable steamer, still working GREAT May 21, 2010

I love this rice cooker and use it everyday for rice, risotto, soups, steaming, etc. I love that only stainless steel is touching my food and not something toxic! The only drawback for me is that it is challenging to cook just one cup of rice which creates a very thin layer on the bottom; manufacturer recommends that 2cups is the minimum amount to cook for this rice cooker to get it right. It is fool-proof on 2 or more cups of rice. Still I give it five stars as I am not aware of any other rice cooker that is as healthy and non-toxic as this one. My favorite rices are Lotus Foods Organic Forbidden Rice, 15-Ounce Bags (Pack of 12) and Lundberg Black Japonica Rice, 16-Ounces (Pack of 12)
UPDATE 4/25/11 I have been using this daily for almost a year now for either cooking rice or steaming vegetables and it still works great! I just purchased one as a gift for a friend who appreciates stainless steel cookware from Walmart dot com who has it on clearance for 85 dollars

Excellent, Large, Easy, Stainless bowl Jan 25, 2011

This rice cooker is very large, does about 6 measuring cups of rice at max capacity, it comes with its own cup which is not equal to an accurate 1 cup measure, it is smaller. You put evrything in , press button and walk away. The rice cooks perfect and my kids love it too ( better than pasta). It comes with good directions and a recipie booklet that talks about the many grains you can cook in here ( very thorough ). You can also boil water pretty fast and use the strainer and collander for multiple uses. The pieces for touching food are all stainless steel which is my main reson for buying this one because i dont eat from teflon or aluminum for health reasons. It comes with manufacturer 2 year warranty. My dis likes are- the white outside of the machine is a thin sheet metal that makes it light weight but it could be dented easily and make it look ugly ( this would not affect performance), my other dislikes are that there is a little bit of rice that will brown and stick to the bottom of the rice cooker, (but this happens in all rice cookers i have used) ( I have not tried a small batch yet to see if this happens ), so you will loose a little rice, but the cleaning of it is not a problem, I soak it and use the provided wooden spoon to scrape it up and it comes up rather easy. Also when your cooking alot of rice a little bit of water droplets will spit from under the lid from condensation,( not that big of a deal, keep a towel nearby if you wish to). this is my third time buying a rice cooker and overall I am satisfied and i like the rice cooker ..I have used it 5 times in the last 2 weeks.

A Fine All-around Cooker Jun 28, 2010

This is a nice reliable Rice Cooker and very versatile for pasta, vegetables and other grains.
Our previous rice cooker was a vita-clay rice cooker, very expensive and quit working in less than
2 years. We did not feel it was reliable enough for a second go around. So we went for the Aroma NRC-1000,
We love this rice cooker, (1) because it is stainless steel, (2) because it is easily cleaned and (3) because it is not
excessively heavy. It aslo makes very good brown rice which is what we mostly use it for.
I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good healthy versatile rice cooker.
